First American Version of Santa Claus

Washington Irving is given the credit for providing the first American version of Santa Claus to the United States. He took the Dutch legion of Saint Nicholas. Where he told the Dutch version of in English, telling how St. Knickerbocker would come to the house of children on the eve of St. Nicholas. However he was not exactly like the Dutch Saint Nicholas because a friend Black Pete did not accompany him. (more…)
